🔥Burning of Ekiti Office Shows APC Jittery Over ADC Popularity – Abdullahi🔥
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the burning of its Ekiti State Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, describing the incident as a deliberate act of political intimidation aimed at silencing the opposition and undermining democracy.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the attack occurred just hours before its scheduled Reconfiguration and Affirmation Ceremony for new executives across the state.
This cowardly and undemocratic act is a calculated attempt to terrorize the opposition ahead of the governorship election, Abdullahi stated. It is a disgrace to anyone who claims to believe in democracy and political freedom.
The party noted that this was not an isolated case, citing similar attacks on ADC offices and members in Kaduna, Lagos, Kebbi, Kogi, and Edo States since the Opposition Coalition declared ADC as its preferred platform in July. Abdullahi described the incidents as part of a dangerous pattern that threatens national unity and democratic stability.
He further accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating the attacks out of fear of the ADC’s growing influence among Nigerians disillusioned by the government’s failures.
The fire in Ekiti only proves that the APC is jittery about the rising wave of the ADC, he said. No amount of violence or intimidation will stop our movement or silence the voice of the people.
The ADC called on all security agencies to immediately investigate the arson, bring the perpetrators to justice, and protect all political parties from further attacks. It also urged INEC, civil society organisations, and international observers to take note of these threats to democracy.
Despite the attack, Abdullahi reaffirmed that the planned ceremony in Ekiti would proceed as scheduled.
