Wike Will Be Invêstigated By EFCC When It Becomes Necessary” – Ex-Minister Shittu
Former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will investigate the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, if there is a compelling reason to do so, noting that no Nigerian is above the law.
Speaking in a recent interview, the APC Chieftain addressed the calls by some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for the anti-graft agency to probe the former Rivers Governor. Shittu explained that the EFCC operates based on petitions and facts, not political sentiments.
“If it becomes necessary, the EFCC will do its job. This administration believes in the rule of law. If there are petitions and evidence, nobody is too big to be investigated,” Shittu reportedly stated.
He urged Nigerians to have faith in the institutions of government and avoid politicizing the fight against corruption. Shittu also dismissed claims that the FCT Minister is being shielded by the Presidency, emphasizing that President Tinubu has given the anti-corruption agencies a free hand to operate.
This comment comes amidst growing demands by some groups for a scrutiny of the assets of public officials to ensure transparency in governance.
