A New Dawn for Bayelsa: Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi Celebrates Governor Douye Diri’s Transformational Leadership
The Member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Frederick Yeitiemone Agbedi, Ph.D., Chairman, House Committee on Special Duties and Leader of the PDP Caucus, has described February 14 as a symbolic day of gratitude, share and express the Valentine Love to all and sundry across the state.
While many across the world associate February 14 with expressions of love and goodwill, Rt. Hon. Agbedi notes that, for Bayelsans, the date represents the birth of a new era of peace, development, and prosperity under the purposeful leadership of His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State.
According to the federal lawmaker, the emergence of Governor Diri marked a turning point in the state’s history, ushering in stability, inclusiveness, and steady progress across key sectors. He emphasized that the administration’s commitment to peacebuilding laid the foundation for balanced and evenly distributed development throughout the state.
Rt. Hon. Agbedi highlighted the Governor’s remarkable strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, pension administration, and employment generation. He commended the transparent and inclusive approach adopted by the administration in creating opportunities for Bayelsans, noting that such policies have strengthened public trust and participation.
The lawmaker further pointed to landmark projects that have redefined the developmental landscape of the state, including the Gas Turbine project nearing completion; the Nembe–Brass Road; the Southern Ijaw/Oporoma Road; the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road; the ongoing Agge Road project; the new Secretariat Complex; and the international-standard stadium currently under construction.
“These projects,” he stated, “stand as enduring monuments to visionary leadership and will remain engraved in the collective memory of our people. According to the holy book, when the righteous rule, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rules, the people perish”.
Rt. Hon. Agbedi called on Bayelsans to continue supporting the Governor’s administration, stressing that sustainable development thrives in an atmosphere of unity and shared responsibility.
He concluded by urging citizens to use the occasion of February 14 to give thanks to God Almighty for the gift of purposeful leadership in Bayelsa State, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to partnering with the state government in advancing policies and initiatives that uplift the lives of the people.
