The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area Hon Dagidi Rawlings Andaye has pleaded with Members of Delta State House of Assembly to add their voices for the immediate take-off of abandoned Bomadi Polytechnic passed into law since 2015.

The Bomadi Council Chairman, Andaye, stated this at the conference hall of Bomadi Secretariat when Members of the State House of Assembly committee for Local Government and Chieftaincy, led by its Chairman, Ogbuefi Chukwudi Dafe, visited for a site seeing of the use of public money under Hon Andaye’s watch, expended within one year.

Andaye, while reeling out his scorecard within a year frame, also called for the collaborative efforts by the Federal, State, and interventionist agencies in infrastructural development and siting of tertiary institutions to fast-track development in the riverine Council area of the State.

”We as Council, playing our part to proactively ensure provision of infrastructure and human capital development to my people, you know Bomadi was the head of old Western Ijaw division, the growth, and development of Bomadi town means a lot to my people, we call on the State Governor Elder Sheriff Oborevwori create State own University or even approve a faculty from any of existing University here, we make this request through you Hon Members of the State Assembly to Mr. Governor, to transform and encourage commerce in our locality.”

Speaking further, Andaye, on behalf of the people of Bomadi local area, thanked Gov Oborevwori for the ongoing reconstruction of the Bomadi-Ohoror road projects, adding that it has now made travelling along the road pleasurable.

The House Committee Chairman, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Ogbuefi Chukwudi Dafe, who spoke with journalists after an assessment tour to three key commissioned projects sites, including Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori Ultra Modern Event Centre, Council Chapel building, and Bomadi High Court Judge’s lodge, commended Andaye for the construction of projects that have a direct bearing on the people.

Dafe posited that after seeing the projects, the most important of their oversight duties was how money was expended on the projects, whether it was correct. He said, “We have seen the projects, and when we received the yearly financial documents of allocation accruing to the Council, we made observations and recommendations.

The Member Representing Bomadi Constituency in the State House of Assembly, who is also a Member of the Committee, on his part, maintained that their visits were not to witch-hunt but carry out a constitutional mandate empowering the State Assembly to carry out oversight functions, to ensure prudence in the use of public funds by Local Government Councilmen in the State.
