International Women’s Day: Andaye Reaffirms Commitment to Women Empowerment in Bomadi

As the world marks the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, has assured women in the area of his administration’s commitment to programmes that strengthen their wellbeing and economic independence.

He also pledged to support initiatives that promote the rights of women in Bomadi, describing them as the backbone of their families whose sacrifices continue to shape a more inclusive and progressive local government area.

Hon. Andaye, in his message to the womenfolk of Bomadi Local Government to mark the global celebration, acknowledged their resilience, untiring efforts, and sacrifices towards building stronger and more united communities in Bomadi.

The Bomadi Council Boss noted that his administration, since assuming office to steer the affairs of the local government, has included women—especially widows—in various empowerment programmes designed to cushion the challenges of running their homes and caring for their children after the demise of their husbands.

Said Hon. Andaye:
“On behalf of the government and peace-loving people of Bomadi Local Government Area, I heartily congratulate our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters of the most peaceful local government on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Indeed, it is a thing of joy to acknowledge the resilience, tireless efforts, and sacrifices towards building a more united Bomadi. As an administration, we have always prioritized women empowerment, knowing that an empowered woman is an empowered family, and an empowered family is a peaceful and law-abiding society. We shall continue to sustain this trajectory of supporting our women as they navigate the paths of standing solidly behind their families.”

The Delta ALGON Secretary also commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the various women empowerment initiatives, particularly the Widows Support Initiative where a monthly stipend of ₦15,000 and free medical services is already operational for widows in Delta State.

Hon. Andaye therefore assured that more empowerment initiatives targeted at the womenfolk in Bomadi will be rolled out as time progresses.
