A prominent Rivers elder and Niger Delta activist, Sara Igbe, has launched a scathing attack on the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of greed, political domination, and undermining the democratic process in Rivers State.
Speaking during an interview, Sara Igbe described Wike as a politician who is unwilling to let go of power, despite serving as governor and now occupying one of the most influential positions in the country. According to him, several governors came before Wike, completed their tenures, and moved on, but Wike has allegedly continued to hold the political structure of Rivers State hostage.
Igbe argued that while Wike’s supporters often point to his flyover projects, most of those projects were concentrated within his own local government area, while many other local governments allegedly saw little or no comparable development. He also questioned the transparency surrounding the cost of some of the projects, while alleging that state resources were used to build investments that do not directly belong to the people.
The Rivers elder further accused Wike of using political influence and the judiciary to impose his will on the state, insisting that Rivers people are becoming increasingly determined to reclaim their political future ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, greed has become Wike’s biggest political weakness, alleging that the same political platform that elevated him from Local Government Chairman to Chief of Staff, Minister, and Governor has now become one of his major targets. He warned that no individual should believe that power belongs to them forever.
His final message was blunt: “We came into this world with nothing, and we will leave with nothing.”
