ECONOMIC SUMMIT: Andaye Joins Stakeholders as Oborevwori Pushes Economic Diversification

The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, on Tuesday, 4th August, 2026, participated in the grand finale of the two-day Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 held in Asaba, where Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to diversifying the State’s economy beyond oil through strategic investments across critical sectors.

Declaring the Summit closed, Governor Oborevwori stressed that Delta State can no longer depend solely on oil revenue, urging both local and foreign investors to take advantage of the abundant opportunities in agriculture, livestock development, energy, the blue economy, transport infrastructure, solid minerals, mining, the digital economy, innovation and other strategic sectors capable of driving sustainable economic growth, employment and shared prosperity.

The Governor explained that the summit was intentionally designed as a private sector-driven initiative aimed at connecting investors with bankable opportunities, while positioning government as an enabler through improved infrastructure, supportive policies, security, policy consistency and stronger partnerships with the private sector. He also disclosed that the State had secured strategic parcels of land and embarked on investment roadshows to countries including China and Brazil to attract global investors.

According to Governor Oborevwori, the summit has evolved beyond policy discussions into a practical investment platform where genuine partnerships are forged and investment commitments translated into concrete projects. He expressed optimism that the ideas and collaborations emerging from the summit would accelerate industrialisation, expand employment opportunities and further establish Delta State as one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations.

During the panel sessions, stakeholders identified agriculture, livestock, mining, the blue economy and legal reforms as key sectors for sustainable investment. Former South-South Vice President of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Chief Eta Enahoro, advocated increased investments in fish and poultry production, noting that the sectors possess immense capacity to create jobs, reduce unemployment and transform Delta into a major agribusiness hub.

In his presentation, a Brazilian agribusiness investor, Roberto Fonseca, unveiled plans to partner with the Delta State Government in developing a modern cattle and beef value chain covering cattle breeding, ranching, slaughterhouses, beef processing, cold storage, refrigerated transportation and distribution networks.

He noted that Delta State possesses favourable climatic and environmental conditions capable of supporting large-scale livestock production. Meanwhile, Mosra Energy Managing Director, Ramos Olukayode, revealed plans to establish a 600-megawatt power plant in Obomkpa, leveraging the State’s vast coal deposits and other mineral resources, while Dr. Uche Igwe called for decisive measures to curb illegal and unregulated fishing activities in order to unlock the full economic potential of Delta State’s waterways.

Speaking after the summit, the Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, commended Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to repositioning Delta State through deliberate economic diversification. He described the summit as a bold and transformative initiative that has inspired renewed investor confidence while creating a clear roadmap for sustainable economic growth, industrial development, job creation and inclusive prosperity across the State.
