OLOMU KINGDOM INSTALLS OLOROGUN DR EBENEZER OKORODUDU AS NEW OTOTA
The Ancient Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has installed the Executive Director of Projects, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu, as the new Otota of the kingdom.
The installation ceremony, which took place at the palace on Saturday, September 19, 2026, was performed by the Ovie of Ancient Olomu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Albert Akpomudje, SAN, Eyanvwien-Alaka I.
Speaking during the ceremony, the monarch said Dr Okorodudu was chosen after extensive consultations with members and clans of the kingdom, which culminated in a unanimous decision to confer the Otota title on him.
His Royal Majesty Akpomudje described the new Otota as a revered son of Olomu Kingdom who had distinguished himself through his love, commitment and contributions to the development of the kingdom.
“The event of today is a great one, and it is being witnessed by the clans in the kingdom. I am so happy today that the issue of the Otota for our kingdom has been laid to rest, and we now have an Otota that we can call our own,” the monarch said.
He prayed for Dr Okorodudu to use his tenure to contribute to the growth and development of Olomu Kingdom, while calling on the people to give the new Otota their full support.
Responding, the new Otota, Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu, described his installation as a special privilege and paid tribute to the monarch, His Royal Majesty Albert Akpomudje, SAN, Eyanvwien-Alaka I. He expressed his readiness to serve the traditional institution with dedication, humility and loyalty.
Dr Okorodudu said the position of Otota required him to understudy the monarch, learn from his wealth of experience and faithfully carry out his directives in the interest of the kingdom.
“As a politician, I am 100 per cent loyal to the traditional institution of Olomu Kingdom. It is where he sends me that I will go; the directive he gives me, I will follow; and what he says I should do, I will do,” he said.
The new Otota further pledged to be “the most obedient Otota ever recorded in the history of Olomu Kingdom,” while expressing appreciation to the monarch for approving his installation and entrusting him with the responsibility. He also assured the people of Olomu Kingdom of his commitment to the traditional institution and pledged to discharge his responsibilities with humility, loyalty and dedication.
A reception was later held at the country home of Olorogun Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu to celebrate his installation as the new Otota of Ancient Olomu Kingdom.
The ceremony attracted prominent traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, religious leaders, community leaders and other dignitaries, including HRM King Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo, Urhukpe I, Ovie of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom; His Royal Majesty Matthew Ediri Egbi, Owahwa II, Ovie of Ughievwen Kingdom; Olorogun Dr Lucky Avweromre, Executive Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Council; and Rt. Hon. Revd. Francis E. Waive, member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency.
Also in attendance were Olorogun Barrister Ese Gam Owe, President-General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide; Olorogun Dr Moses Taiga, CON, Doyen of Olomu Kingdom; Olorogun John Oguma, Odjenigbovwan of Olomu Kingdom; Olorogun Barrister John Nani, Chairman of DESOPADEC; and Olorogun (Senator) Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Dr A.P Fovie, Chief Emmanuel Eyarefe Okorodudu.

The installation marked a significant traditional event in Olomu Kingdom, with the people and dignitaries gathered to witness the formal conferment of the Otota title on Dr Okorodudu.
