Six Super Eagles players have collectively donated ₦24 million to the Super Falcons in recognition of their victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The players include team captain William Troost-Ekong, Olaoluwa Aina, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun and Joseph Ayodele-Aribo. The Super Falcons pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat hosts, the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, after trailing by two goals in the final on Saturday night. The victory marked the 10th WAFCON title for Justine Madugu’s side.
The triumphant team and their officials returned to Nigeria on Monday, where they also received rewards from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.
