Hon. Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku, Esq., former Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs and former Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), has called for Bayelsa State to be given serious consideration in the planning of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, stressing that the state’s challenging wetland terrain should not become a reason for exclusion from Nigeria’s coastal development network.

In an article titled “Beyond the Swamps: Why Bayelsa State Must Be Part of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway,” Kuku advocates evidence-based engineering assessments, environmental protection, transparent cost evaluations and inclusive national development.

He argues that Bayelsa’s connectivity is essential to unlocking economic opportunities in fisheries, aquaculture, maritime services, trade and other productive sectors. He also urges the Federal Government to ensure that the final transportation plan reflects sound engineering, economic viability and the interests of affected communities.
