YENAGOA — The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Andaye , yesterday, joined the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, alongside other prominent leaders, to officially welcome His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The grand ceremony, held at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, attracted political heavyweights, party chieftains, and dignitaries from across the Niger Delta and beyond.
In his remarks, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye congratulated Governor Diri on his bold and strategic decision to join the APC, describing it as a move rooted in wisdom and foresight. He urged the Governor to demonstrate steadfast loyalty, unity, and commitment to the ideals of the party. Dagidi stressed that the APC remains the most reliable platform for sustainable development, progressive governance, and national cohesion.
Hon. Dagidi further emphasized that Bayelsa’s political and economic future depends on active collaboration with the central government. He noted that joining the APC presents Bayelsa with greater opportunities for empowerment, investment, and infrastructural transformation. “Your Excellency, we are delighted to receive you into the APC family — a home of progress and accountability,” Dagidi stated. “We urge you to remain resolute, align with the leadership of our great party, and work together to bring renewed hope and prosperity to our people.”
The event was graced by the presence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, ably represented by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, GCON; Senate President, Dist. Sen. Godswill Akpabio; Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State; Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State; members of the National Assembly; and the APC National Working Committee, among other dignitaries. They hailed Governor Diri’s defection as a defining moment in Bayelsa’s political history — one that reflects the region’s growing trust in the APC’s vision and leadership.
