2026 Worker’s Day: Gov. Diri directs immediate allocation of 108 housing units in Okaka to workers

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has directed the Head of Service of the State to immediately allocate the completed 108 units housing units in Okaka to civil servants in the state.

Governor Diri, gave the directive at this year’s Workers’ Day celebration held at Peace Park, Yenagoa, in response to some of the demands of the workers’ unions.

He further directed that all annual step increments be implemented henceforth, explaining that payment of promotion arrears as well as annual increments is ongoing and will continue until all outstanding arrears are cleared.

He said that more modern buses would be added to the existing fleet for civil servants.

He also expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recently inaugurating legacy projects by his administration, assuring that the installed gas turbines will soon be fired to light up the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Barnabas Simon, who read the joint address of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress in Bayelsa, thanked Governor Diri and the Assured Prosperity Administration for the improved welfare of the public servants.

Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimbofa Ayaowei, the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, the Acting Chief of Staff, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, service commanders; executive council members; and other top government functionaries
