Some people have merely secured admission into a PhD programme and suddenly their names have transformed overnight from “Mr.” to “Dr.” this is not just laughable, but an advert of foolishness.
What a remarkable academic miracle!
The irony is that a PhD admission is simply an invitation to begin a rigorous journey of research, sleepless nights, thesis defense, publications, and years of intellectual sacrifice — not a conferment of a doctorate title.
One does not become a medical doctor by buying a stethoscope, neither does one become an academic doctor by receiving an admission letter.
It is both laughable and embarrassing to see individuals decorating themselves with titles they have neither earned nor been awarded by any institution.
Academic honours are earned through diligence, not through premature self-glorification.
The “Dr.” title is not a souvenir attached to admission status; it is the outcome of successfully completing the programme and being formally certified by a recognized institution.
Until then, humility remains the most appropriate title. You can’t be parading yourself as a “Dr” without a thesis, certificate and academic gown 😂 😆 😂
