The Enugu State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared that it will resist any attempt to hijack its party structure as internal leadership tensions continue within the party.

The State Chairman, Johnpaul Anih, made the declaration on Wednesday during a meeting of the party’s State Executive Committee held in Enugu.

Anih said the party remains open to new members and welcomes defectors from other political parties, noting that the rising influx into the party reflects growing public confidence in its direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, he warned that the party would not tolerate any actions capable of undermining its internal democratic processes or organizational structure.

“There is still room for reconciliation and unity within our ranks. However, we will not tolerate any attempt to hijack the party through the backdoor,” Anih said.

He emphasized that the NDC is committed to building a broad-based political movement anchored on discipline, internal democracy, and progressive ideals.

The party leadership also called on aggrieved members to embrace reconciliation and work toward unity as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections, while reaffirming plans to strengthen its structures across all 17 local government areas in Enugu State.

The NDC further pledged to field credible candidates capable of delivering electoral victory in the upcoming polls.
